Looking south, downstream from Hoover Dam. The river is swelling into Lake Mohave, which is backed up by Davis Dam farther downstream. Arizona (left of the river) and Nevada (to right), USA. Taken from a helicopter tour ("Best Dam Tour!") Hoover Dam is built at the upper end of Black Canyon in a prominent narrows.

Thanks, everyone! I heartily recommend this helicopter tour if you're ever at Hoover Dam. It starts from the parking lot of a hotel on the Nevada side 5 miles or so west of the Dam. They offer several tours--get the one that goes down Black Canyon as well as circling the dam.
