Another visit to a cottonwood tree, near the San Pedro River in southern Arizona, that has been wrestling with the steel rails for more than a hundred years.

That's the largest cottonwood tree I've ever seen - and in Arizona!

I think the tree is winning, don't you?

Interesting to me that the San Pedro river runs north. That is unusual as most north/south rivers run south. I live along a North flowing river also, the Willamette.

I've seen some even larger cottonwoods still in AZ.
When they grow near a river they can be enormous.
