Amerongen

Amerongen is town in the province of Utrecht. It is first mentioned in 1126, but it is assumed that the town is older. In 1286 a castle was built in Amerongen. The castle was attacked and destroyed several times over the years and in the 17th century it was rebuilt as a stately home. The Kaiser stayed in the castle for two years after he fled from Germany.
