Tug Burly

Burly was built in 1921 as Bato, probably by the company „De Volharding”. The Burly is a tug of the Amsterdam type, used to tow ships through the canals of Amsterdam. That is the reason why the tug is low. The steering cabin can be lowered even further.
Since 1984 no longer in active service. Burly is powered by a 1954 Kaelble six-cylinder diesel engine. Originally Burly probably had a Kromhout 40HP one-cylinder semi-diesel engine (type M3), later replaced by Kromhout 2H3 80HP two-cylinder diesel.
