Daniël 5: 24-28
Doe is dat deel der hant van hem gesonden, ende dese schrift geteeckent geworden. Dit nu is de schrift, die daer geteeckent is, Mene Mene, Tekel, Upharsin. Dit is de uytlegginge deser woorden, Mene, Godt heeft u Coninckrijcke getelt, ende hy heeftet voleyndet. Tekel, Ghy zijt in weegschalen gewogen, ende ghy zijt te licht gevonden. Peres, U Koninckrijcke is verdeylt, ende ’t is den Meden ende den Persen gegeven.

Then was the part of the hand sent from him; and this writing was written. And this is the writing that was written, MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.
