Phoenician Tomb

In 2012, archaeologists working on a plot between Calles Jinetes and Refino in Malaga discovered a tomb from the 6th century BC that had been preserved intact, which originally would have been located outside the walls of the Phoenician city of Malaka.
The burial chamber, set in a pit dug out of the earth, was built with large sandstone ashlars and covered with a flat or pitched wooden roof. A mound may have marked the grave's location above ground.
The tomb was designed in the Phoenician tradition and contained the interred remains of a middle-aged male together with a pendant and arms typical of a Greek warrior including a spear head and helmet.
