Castillo del Gibralfaro

The present fortification dates from 1333-34 and was built by the Moorish leader, Yusuf I of Granada. It is likely that it was built to provide better protection against attack than the lower-positioned Alcazaba. There is a walled passageway (coracha) between the Alcazaba and the Gibralfaro.
