Lincoln Cathedral
Building commenced in 1088 and continued in several phases throughout the medieval period. It was reputedly the tallest building in the world for 238 years (1311–1549). The central spire collapsed in 1549 and was not rebuilt.

My understanding is that all three towers had central spires. I read somewhere that the spire on the eastern tower collapsed, whilst the 2x western spires were removed as the lead cladding was causing the towers to lean. A pity there are no photos from that time.
