Reedley Korean Heritage Pavilion

|
Reedley isn't a large city, but this memorial features cenotaphs for ten prominent Korean men (no women) who lived in the area or had some other connection there, including Syngman Rhee and Dosan Ahn Chang Ho.

near Palmdale CA. If they look familiar, they've been used as a location for many, many movies for the past century. This particular spot is sometimes called "Kirk's Rock" because it's featured prominently in a Star Trek episode ("Arena").

Alta Vista School, Redondo Beach

Spotted this cool map/tile project near the entrance of the school--daughter was at Young Writers' Camp there this past week. Cartouche says it's from 2004.
Lucia Thanks the Firefighters

Sign outside a general store in Lucia, CA, on the coast road between Monterey and Big Sur, July 2008. We definitely saw fire damage along the coast, but McWay Falls and its beach were unharmed (barely), and the road was fine as of last week.

A beach (mostly) unvisited by human beings and its lovely waterfall. At Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, on the Coast Road between Monterey and Big Sur. We stopped to see it in December 1996, and again July 2008--beautiful in any season.
Equinox Sunset with Palms

This is the sky just after sunset from the middle of the street in front of my house. For Lisa C.'s Welcome Fall project.
