It produces an acceptable image when the light is flat and the subject (as in this case) fills the frame without the use of digital zoom. Modern smartphones contain three or more much higher-megapixel cameras, which in effect zoom both wider and (much) longer while retaining full image quality, and hence can be used for serious photography. Having twice in three days found myself without a camera when I needed one, for me a new iPhone would perhaps be a worthwhile investment.
