Would this be a Shepperton yacht by any chance?

No; genuine, but the sails (which were dark grey) were lightened.

The sky and sea were made more blue, but apart from that and the yacht sails, the picture is 'as was'.

If I had taken this picture, I'm sure you would have told me to move the boat slightly to the left

Taking pictures 'on the hoof' (while on organised walks when one has already fallen behind the rest of the group) one cannot wait until everything is in exactly the right place.

But in this case, to my eye, the yacht happens to be in the optimum position, because it and the intersecting hulls of the boats in the foreground form an equilateral triangle.

How strange, as I recall you once shifting a canal boat in one of mine.

I know of no rule about triangles. I simply did my best to work out why the yacht looked to me optimally placed, and this seemed the best explanation.

My boat was fine where it was, but you always did have an odd sense of composition.

The question was rhetorical.

We can only judge what to us as individuals does or does not look right, and whose sense of composition is odd and whose even is something that cannot be adjudicated upon.

I'm still looking for this equilateral triangle, but have found some disembodied heads.
