Cubist Kiosk/Kubistický kiosek

This small but very beautiful building is on the edge of Vrchlického Sady, Prague facing Bolzanova.

The text on the adjacent placard looks long enough to provide a great deal of information but is, in fact, vague in parts. The Kiosk was built in the 1920s but the specific project and architect are unknown although similarities to the work of Pavel Janák are noted. Restored in the 1980s, the kiosk is an example of a variant of Czech Cubism know as Rondo Cubism. It retains its original use and is a national heritage site.
