Black-headed Gull (2) - 26 May 2016

On an early summer evening in Lee on Solent, as residents and visitors, relieved of the burdens of the day, frequent the sea front with chips and ice creams at hand, the gulls gather with optimism but little aggression and wait, content most of the time to sit characteristically facing into wind and squabble amongst themselves.

Prominent amongst the gulls are the relatively small Black-headed type. This is one of a short series of square-cropped pictures of those birds.
