Natural History Museum (8) - 2 August 2014

The Natural History Museum (1873-1880) is one of the most beautiful buildings in London. When long queues deterred a visit inside I satisfied myself with photographs of the architectural detail. In this shot, that detail is juxtaposed with the remains of an ancient tree unearthed in Scotland in 1854 but excavated from rocks 330 million years old (Lower Carboniferous Period).
