Kostprobe...das hast du sehr passend ausgedrückt, Gabi. Mal schauen, ob am wochenende noch mehr kommt. Ich lasse mich überraschen. Und mache dann weitere fotos :-)

Den gibt's auch...aber in entgegengesetzter richtung von diesem park. Morgen geh ich an den see und guck mal, ob ich dort auch schnee seh! ;-))

Nicht soviel schnee wie bei euch, aber hier ist er ja eh selten genug, da freuen wir uns auch schon über ein bisschen davon. Vielleicht wird's ja tatsächlich bis weihnachten noch mehr, denn weisse weihnacht hatten wir das letzte mal im jahr 2010.

This is why here we have lots of people from Northern countries spending winter in Algarve, some say what they don’t spend in their countries almost pays or even pays for the stay here. Most are retired people but we notice more and more active working remotely.

I'm sure they do. Yet, Southern Germany is not a northern country, I'm glad when the summer is over and I can enjoy the few winter days that we have...
Well, working remotely, that's what I did when I lived in Israel. That was the only way I could stay there for a few years. Is the Algarve that inexpensive or did just rich people say that? ;-)

Well, we are always the South or the North of someone else! For North Marroco Algarve is North country… South France is Northern for North Portugal, etc…
Point is in Algarve winters are very mild, little rain, fruits and veg growing all year round and if prices raised a lot because of tourism and now pandemics+war they are still very afordable comparing to France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Holland, UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and some more. Communities of retired normal or low income people from those countries is increasing: they can have here a better life quality than in their countries.

Yes, that's true. But the South Pole is even more south from here and they wouldn't consider Southern Germany a northern country ;-)) I'm just being a little facetious, I know what you mean.

Well, you would know best about the cost of living in the Algarve, so I may consider it when I'm retired ;-) When you mentioned it, I was thinking about the retired people who moved to Spain from northern countries. From what I heard it's no longer that cheap (although Portugal may be different) and retirees mainly moved there because of the weather. After all, here you get a social allowance on top of your old age pension in case it's too low, however, your residence has to be in Germany. You wouldn't get if from Germany if you lived somewhere else. So that's another thing to consider... and I don't mind the weather here at all. It's not unbearably cold in the winter and winter doesn't depress me :-)

Perfect place doesn’t exist, one has too choose his most convenient one. For me it is here, even if I miss a real winter, if we could have 2 months with snow I would appreciate, in the other hand we would not have all the flowers we have in winter and spring. Summer is the dead season for nature, too hot and dry so plants hibernate to protect themselves … I would love tourists to hibernate too, but that is another story and people who work here make their living mainly with summer holidays and “the invasion”.

Exactly. And I don't mind compromises ;-) I'm not sure yet where I'll be...I'll cross that bridge when I come to it ;-))
One thing is for sure though...when I visit Portugal, it won't be in mid-summer. That's way too hot for me, and I don't want to be part of the "invasion"!!

In so einer verschneiten Landschaft macht doch ein Spaziergang gleich viel mehr Spaß. :-)

Oh ja, ganz genau. Als es gestern vormittag geschneit hatte, bin ich gleich raus in den park, um fotos zu machen. Wann hat man denn hier schon mal die gelegenheit zu schneefotos? ;-) Und der spaziergang hat natürlich auch viel spass gemacht, da kommt schon vorweihnachtliche stimmung auf!

Vielleicht würdet ihr das in Minden auch nur als raureif bezeichnen. Hier im tropischen teil der republik ist es halt schnee ;-)

Passt ja prima in diese vorweihnachtliche Zeit. Aber ob es auch bis Weihnachten so schön weiss bleibt ?

Stimmt. Da kam schon weihnachtliche stimmung auf. Ab morgen soll dann schon alles wieder weg sein, also an weihnachten dann leider wieder das typische graue (oder sogar regnerische?) weihnachtswetter bei uns.

Danke. Hatte mich auch sehr gefreut über den wintereinbruch, denn so oft haben wir das hier ja nicht. Morgen soll schon wieder alles vorbei sein, also ca. 5 tage verschneiter winter bis jetzt.
