Rock and Rapids, Little Susitna River, Alaska
Taken during a side trip near Wasila, Alaska. I was using an older Sigma 70-300 macro lens with the Nikon D700. Worked fine.
Image processed with GIMP.

Lily Pads and Frog
Taken on Grand Canary, Spain. We were taking a tour from our cruise in 2013, and stopped in the small town of Teror. There was a very nice park with a pond full of lily pads, turtles, and this lone frog.
Image processed with GIMP.

Falls with Train (HFF)
Taken in Falls Park, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There is a train trestle over the river, right at the park location.
BNSF tracks, but the train is D&I.
Image processed with GIMP.

Devils Gulch, South Dakota
Reflections in the pool at the bottom of this scenic gulch.
It is famous, because outlaw Jesse James was supposed to have jumped the gulch on his horse in order to elude the posse.
It is mysterious because no one has been able to find the bottom. All in all, this is a very unusual place, located in an otherwise typical midwest small town. (Various areas nearby were treated as sacred by the Native Americans.)

Park Fountains (HFF, H.A.N.W.E.)
Taken in a lovely park along the MIssissippi River, in Muscatine, Iowa.
This town is overshadowed by the "Quad Cities" nearby, but is worth a stop for itself. This park looks like a nice stop on a hot summer day. (The PiP shows more of the river front).
Did you know that this was a major pearl button manufacturing town in the late 19th century? There is a statue in this park to the mussel fisherman of that time.
Image taken with phone and processed into square format with GIMP.
Using the square format allowed me to crop until there is some Rule of Thirds behavior present.

Dog in Nanortalik, Greenland (HBM)
This dog was relaxing near the port of Nanortalik, while we walked around the area. The cruise ship Veendam can be seen in the background.
I've added this to the Sunday Challenge for 1 January 2023.
Our view ahead into 2023 should include some cruise travel,
after nearly 3 years of frustration.
Happy New Year to All!!

Wet Chain (Oregon Shakespeare Festival)
This photo was taken by me in 1967, when I worked at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland. The stage had just been abandoned when a major rainstorm came through.
From King Lear, we have the Fool's song:
He that has and a little tiny wit–
With hey, ho, the wind and the rain,–
Must make content with his fortunes fit,
For the rain it raineth every day.
(This was a scan of a 35mm slide I took. Much manipulated with GIMP.)

Lonely Sentinel (HWW)
Taken at the fortress in San Juan, Puerto Rico. This watch tower overlooks the ocean.
Image processed with GIMP.
For the Sunday Challenge, this is an attempt to use "rule of thirds" in the cropping.
