Road Trip USA
Folder: Travel Related
We have traveled a lot in the US, particularly when we lived in a motorhome. Now sold, we still make trips by car. The US offers an endless vista of things and people to see. Hit the road and enjoy!
Wall of License Plates (HWW)

Taken in 2012 in Kettle Falls, Washington. Yes, those seem to be Washington state license plates.
We were on our way back from our summer in Alaska, and this was the first decent stop after crossing the border back from Canada.

Bingo Tent at RV Rally (HTT)
We attended the RV rally at the Winnebago factory for several years. The social and educational events took place under big tents, like this one.
In this case, the people are getting ready to play Bingo (serious business!). Naturally, when playing Bingo, you need to have tables.
This was our first Winnebago rally, 2010.

We spent a beautiful day in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park (North Unit) when the fall leaves were very colorful.
This was taken inside the campground, and you can see an RV parked under the trees.

El Faralito Restaurant in El Rito, New Mexico (HBM…

We were told about this place by some other folks at the RV park where we were staying. The small town of El Rito, New Mexico is pretty remote, but very interesting, and worth a visit.
The highlight for us was enjoying a dinner at El Farolito. This tiny restaurant consistently wins statewide awards for their food. They were very friendly and welcoming.

Interior, Acme Oyster House (HANWE)
We visited the New Orleans area in 2016. Had lunch at this branch of the well-known oyster restaurant, Acme Oyster House.
I used the phone to grab a picture of the neon lights and table in the restaurant. About an hour later, a tornado ran through the same area, causing much damage and some deaths. Makes you think.

(The Mandeville, Louisiana, location we visited was later closed, but there are still plenty of branches of this restaurant open in the New Orleans area, as of 2022)
Shaded Pathway in Zion National Park (HFF)

Taken in the Zion National Park.
I enjoy trying to get the right perspective and view of walking paths. This one had the right amount of shade.

Tabasco Chocolate For Sale
In 2016, we had the pleasure of visiting Avery Island, Louisiana, home of the Tabasco sauce factory.
Their gift shop has amazing things, and we had to control ourselves and only buy a few items. These "paint cans" contain chocolate infused with the tabasco sauce.
The design on the can (diamond with green lettering) is the LOGO of the McIlhenny Co.

Kinzua Railroad Bridge Remains
This classic railway trestle in central Pennsylvania, was abandoned by the railroad. After that, it was used for various railroad excursions, until a major storm caused most of the bridge to collapse into the valley below.
This image is taken looking down from the end of the existing bridge (now a state park) at the wreckage in the valley below.

Entrance to Yellowstone National Park (HWW)
The entrance is made up of a huge wall of rock cemented together. This used to be the main entrance, but the road bypasses it now.

Taken at a car show in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. There was an interesting mix of cars, but the 1957 Chevrolet seems to have been pretty popular, but there were a couple of Corvette's there, too.
