HWW...........The Wasdale Head Inn

HWW...........The Wasdale Head Inn
The Wasdale Head Inn is in a spectacular setting at the head of remote Wastwater, the deepest lake in the Lake District. The peaks behind the inn are the Pillar and Kirk Fell and nearby is Scafell Pike, the highest mountain in England. This famous climber’s pub has slate floored bars, one basic for muddy boots and another with wood panelled walls. The pub is known as the birthplace of climbing and the photos of early climbers are remarkable.

Robert Swanson, Colin Ashcroft, William Sutherland, David G Johnson and 15 other people have particularly liked this photo
