Attermire lies high above Settle and is a breathtaking series of limestone scars, scree slopes and caves. The limestone was formed in shallow tropical seas approx. 330 million years ago.

A brilliant capture Gordon,.. the beautiful light goes without saying,. / It's staggering to think that 'shallow seas' covered the region and formed the limestone,. it's a similar story here with Derbyshire and the 'Winnats Pass' which is said to be once a limestone cave,. until erosion formed it into a steep gorge,..// Keep well - and Cheers'.. from Dj.
