Thanks for the information Frans...........it's very similar to a lot of the mines in the UK that have now closed down. Quite a few are now open to the public or are museums too.

In Nederland waren ooit 13 steenkolenmijnen, allemaal gesloten en geen enkele is nog ondergronds te bezoeken, Deze schacht is de enigste van zijn soort.

It's very similar here Frans. According to Google the number of operational deep coal mines in the United Kingdom (UK) has been steadily falling, from 33 in 2000 to six as of 2023.
