Bridge 10, Avenue Bridge (Grade II Listed Building), on the Shropshire Union Canal.
This ornate Bridge 10, Avenue Bridge, carries the tree-lined drives "Upper and Lower Avenues" leading from the Coven Road to Chillington Hall, being about a mile in length. "Midway along its length Lower Avenue crosses over the Shropshire Union Canal via an ornamental bridge known as the Avenue Bridge (listed grade II), of c 1840 and designed by Thomas Telford."
On this occasion we would leave the canal at the bridge and follow Lower Avenue to the Coven Road. Along the avenue is a nice wooded walk where we found lovely feathers from an unfortunate Great Spotted Woodpecker.
The picture was taken in 2005 and we had crossed Upper Avenue, half way along its mile length, while walking the Staffordshire Way on the March 2000, having a good view up to the Hall.
