Bridge over Rearsby Brook, Rearsby
“The original wooden bridge at Rearsby, which would have been medieval, was replaced in 1714 by the one we can see today. It stands by a ford over the Rearsby brook and legend has it that it took six men nine days to complete it at a total cost of £11 2s 2d.”
Bridge. Medieval, perhaps C16. Largely granite rubble with brick. Low narrow
structure with 7 arches, 3 over stream and 4 lesser arches for the longer south
approach. 3 rounded cutwaters to east, 2 are granite, but one is brick. Brick
coping to low parapet.
