We had started the 100 mile Leicestershire Round from the nearest point of Sharnford in December 2003.
Unfortunately due to medical reasons, and after about 90 miles including short detours, we were unable to take two cars. This left us about 25 miles short in September 2004.

Bosworth Hall. It was the country seat of the Dixie family (baronets of Bosworth) for nearly three hundred years. Since the 1980s the house has had several owners and is now a hotel.

LEICESTERSHIRE ROUND (4) Shackerstone to Bagworth (6.5m)
December 2003, Weather cold and sunny, without a cloud in the sky.
This leg started at Shackerstone and proceeded in a northeast direction to join company with the Ivanhoe Way for the journey to Bagworth. The path travelled over large arable fields to Odstone Hall and Odstone. Turning westward at Odstone we passed through many more arable fields on the way to Nailstone, with the spire of All Saints never seeming to get any nearer. On reaching the Church we had our lunch.
From Nailstone it was more of the same and on towards Bagworth. There was a conveniently placed bench on the higher ground between Nailstone and Bagworth where we had our last cup of tea as the sunset approached. It made good pictures in the afternoon mist. Near the built up area of Bagworth we tried to find the Bagworth Trig Point (170m) but it eluded us. It may be that the Trig has been copied from an old map and does not now exist. We returned to the car park at the Working Men’s Club.
