Floozie in the Jacuzzi, Birmingham (scan from 1995)

The 'Floozie' was designed by Indian sculptor Dhruva Mistry and it cost £3.5m. It was unveiled by Diana the Princess of Wales in 1993. Around £300,000 was spent on restoring it in 2000, while repairs cost £70,000 in 2009 and then £40,000 three years later. It was turned off in 2013 and then transformed into an elaborate flower display two years after.
Birmingham city centre is set for a £25 million regeneration, which include bringing Victoria Square's famous 'Floozie in the Jacuzzi' back into use. Proposals to improve the city centre as it prepares to welcome around half a million more visitors to the city during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will be discussed at Cabinet on 29 October.
