"The site is situated on an undulating area of old limestone workings. There are two large pools, unimproved calcareous and neutral grassland, several wet hollows, wet grassland, grassland, hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna) thickets and small wooded areas. The pools are deep and water quality is very good."
