North Coast Natural Park

The Northern Littoral Natural Park is one of the thirteen natural parks of Portugal. It encompasses the shores of the Atlantic Ocean in the municipality of Esposende. The park consists of river and sea beaches, with reefs, dunes, pine forest, oak and agricultural areas, as well as numerous streams that flow directly into the sea. The main water courses are the Neiva River and the Cávado River, which has a huge estuary. This protected area was created to preserve its natural, physical, aesthetic, landscape and cultural values, with particular emphasis on the preservation of the dune system.
