On this street in Alcochete there were 24 royal palm trees that died half a dozen years ago because of a beetle imported from Asia. In fact, in Portugal almost all of them died. Incredibly, right next to the waterline of the Tagus River, new shoots were born spontaneously. Strong and healthy. It could be that the beetle, after killing them all, disappeared too.
