I took a few shots of these ponies here and only two were in full sun and they are the ones I have posted before now. But I quite like the muted atmosphere of these more shaded shots so I proffer one here!

The day started off very stormily indeed. This shot was taken just as the dampness was being burnt off by the increasingly powerful summer sun but the mist lingered awhile. I think this shot gives an impression of the last of the mistiness before the sun finally broke through (I hope so, anyway!) For Pam.

A dull day until about mid afternoon when it brightened up and turned glorious. In the meantime, these ponies cheered me up!

The sun is starting to come out and it became a glorious day. Half an hour before, as can be seen in these shots (these three were taken within an hour of each other), the weather was awful and the sea was rough.
H. A. N. W. E. everyone!

These ponies are grazing the grasslands of Treaga Hill, overlooking Portreath and Gull Rock on the one side and Ralph's Cupboard on the other.

Just a shame that the wind had blown their magnificent manes over the other side from the camera!

There has been debate here and on Pano as to whether these are actually Shetland ponies with many members saying they are far too big. But all the literature, online info, signposts and notice boards say that they are and for want of any better evidence, that is what I will continue to call them.
Maybe the rich Cornish grassland has fattened them up a treat!

This is the last of three photos I have of these ponies at this place. I posted the two other shots at different times.

Horse nice and warm (it was a very cool summer).

Saint Day on the horizon, the spire of the collapsed church plainly visible on the skyline.
Hard to believe that 150 years ago all this would have been hell on earth due to extensive mining activity.
