Wild tulips in their element!

They seem to like this degraded granite slope. It is saturated with rain and snow melt in winter but is free-draining after that.

That IS interesting. A different species of tulip perhaps? I read that wild tulips were only to be found in a band stretching from the Caucasus, through Turkey the Balkans, Italy and Spain.
I might look into this further if I get some time (unlikely!). Best wishes,

They must be very particular in the wild, I suspect, Peter and probably even more so out of their comfort zone!
