Il fiume Maggia sfocia nel bacino svizzero del Lago Maggiore. La foce si trova a valle del più grande delta lacustre d'Europa ed è zona protetta. Locarno e il suo agglomerato si trovano ai piedi delle Alpi e nonostante un'urbanizzazione intensiva non sempre virtuosa l'intricato sistema di valli e montagne fanno del Ticino un luogo dove la natura selvaggia è ancora parte predominante del territorio.
The Maggia River flows into the Swiss part of Lake Maggiore. The mouth is located downstream of the largest lake delta in Europe and it's a protected area. Locarno and its suburbs are located at the foot of the southern side of the Alps and despite an intensive urbanization (which is not always virtuous) the intricate system of valleys and mountains make the Canton of Ticino a place where wild nature is still a predominant part of the whole territory.
