Bolton Castle

Built in Wensleydale district (Yorkshire), this manor house and fortress was completed in 1399. Its strong walls and small windows give a clear picture of the way castles were inhabited in the middle ages. Home of the Scrope family, this place is most famous for being one of the castles where Mary, Queen of Scots, was emprisoned after losing out at the battle of Langside (1568)

Erigé au XIVème siècle, ce château des Wensleydale (Yorkshire) a l'allure d'une forteresse avec ses murs épais et ses petites fenêtres. Marie Stuart, Reine d'Ecosse, y fut retenue prisonnière pendant 6 mois en 1568.
