Wood Lily

We found these growing in the woods along the Maligne Lake Road in Jasper National Park. They are about a foot tall and grow on a slender stem that sways in the lightest breeze - a wonderful sight. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2010/07/british-col...

Columbia Lily

Lilium columbianum is the Pacific Northwest's version of the Tiger Lily. These were growing everywhere along the Yellowhead Highway north of Blue River and we stopped several times early in the morning to take pictures. The tallest plants were six feet tall and really stood out against the background of trees. ronaldhanko-orchidhunter.blogspot.com/2010/07/british-col...

Western Pasque Flower (Pulsatilla occidentalis)

We found these in abundance both on the tundra above Robson Glacier and along the Hargreaves Lake trail. This photo was taken along the Hargreaves Lake trail. They bloom almost as soon as the snow is melted and we often found them blooming near unmelted snow.

Western Pasque Flower

The Western Pasque Flower, Anemone occidentalis, is a common wildflower at higher elevations in the Rockies and the Cascades, blooming early and just as the snow melts. These were photographed by my wife in Mount Robson Provincial Park while backpacking there and show why I always take her along and why when we get home I make sure I go through her pictures and get all the best ones. Somehow or other she always manages to outdo me and get several of the best photos of any trip we make.

Blanket Flower

This Blanket Flower was photographed in Kootenay National Park in British Columbia but is found all over the western USA and Canada. We will be leaving shortly for Mount Robson Provincial Park and will be backpacking there for the next four days, so I not be on Ipernity.
