Michigan and Indiana Wildflowers
Folder: Native Flora and Fauna
Evening Primrose
There wasn't a lot blooming when we visited the Bass River Recreation Area in Western Michigan in September, but what we saw we photographed, including these Common Evening Primroses.
Purple Loosestrife
If I am not mistaken, this is Purple Loosestrife, an attractive but invasive plant. It was photographed at Bass River Recreation Area in Michigan.
Frost Aster
My book for eastern wildflowers is packed away somewhere, but these are some of the wildflowers we saw and photographed at Bass River Recreation Area in Michigan when we were there recently. This is, I think, the Frost Aster.
New England Aster
These are New England Asers, one of the few wildflowers still blooming when we were in Michigan earlier this autumn. They were photographed in a new park along the Grand River, the Ravines.
New England Aster
Another place in Michigan we visited was a new park called the Ravines. These flowers were photographed while walking there with other family members.
Bee on New England Aster
These New England Asters were among the few wildflowers still blooming when we visited the Ravines, a new park along the Grand River. We were in Michigan visiting family and this was one of our excursions.
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
This is the flowering stalk of Jack-in-the-pulpit, an unusual plant we found and photographed near Sand Creek in western Michigan while we were there visiting family.
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
This is the flower of Arisema triphyllum, Jack-in-the-pulpit. We photographed them in Aman Park, along Sand Creek, in western Michigan.
Jack-in-the-Pulpit
This strange flower is known, for obvious reasons, as Jack-in-the pulpit. We found them blooming at a park in western Michigan, Aman Park, that we visited recently while in Michigan for a wedding and to see family.
