Spreading Creek Wildfire

When we came through Kootenay, Banff and Jasper in 2014 this is what we found at Saskatchewan Crossing in Banff and this is what I wrote at that time:
"We had stopped to photograph the helicopters involved in fighting the fire which was not even visible away from the road when two motorcyclists roared by us. As they disappeared into the distance the wind kicked up the fire and suddenly it was near enough the road that we could feel its heat. With the fire so close and firefighters suddenly rushing around we knew our curiosity had no place there and prepared to drive away. As we did several cars and the motorcyclists came tearing back out of the smoke and one motorcyclist stopped and looked back as if to say 'that was a very close call.' My wife continued to snap photos as we left the fire behind us the firefighters barricaded and closed the road."
I've posted these photos now since tomorrow I want to post some photos of the same area more than four years later.

Here we can "feel" the real thing .
Happy you had time to get away safely.
I will be interested to see how things have changed in the four years since. Having a fire roar up our hillside, it's been fascinating to see how the recovery is going. Things are slowly returning to the way they were but the trees won't grow tall for many years. A lasting reminder. It is nice to see that many of the plants are just as they were. It's a comfort.
Thank you for the wonderful comments on my pens...wow, you're nearly willing to fry your computer while appreciating the images, huzzah! :D :D They are a wonderful collection to hold in my hands and examine...every one is different and fun to look at. I hope to get back into turning at some point, the process is so rewarding!
I will definitely take you up on your offer to go orchid hunting! :D That would be such fun. To be led by the likes of you...wow, that really would be an honor. I know you're something of a star in the wild orchid world so how fantastic it would be to get this attention!! :)
I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day and hopefully you're back to 100% along with Nancy!
Excellent capture of this scary moment! Very impressive photo!
Have a great day, Ron!
