Palette Spring, Mammoth Hot Springs
Mammoth Hot Springs is near the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park and is an area where the geothermal activity is always changing. This spring is at present one of only a few active areas in the lower part of the terraces.

The sight is very fascinating, almost like on another planet. ;-) I like the play of light and shadow on the impressive colorful stones with its picturesque color gradients. I also like the soft mist cloud as a contrast to the hard stones. I find it amazing that at the hot springs a tree could ever grow. At some point, it was probably too hot for him here. ;-)
