Death Camas

The Death Camas, Toxicoscordion venenosum or Zigadenus venenosus, is easily told apart from the Common Camas when in flower. When not in flower, however, the bulbs of the two plants look very much alike and sometimes grow together. Since the Common Camas is often eaten and the Death Camas lives up to its name and is extremely poisonous, a person must very sure that he or she is eating the right plant.
