Modoc Lumber Co.
The site of a historic lumber mill in Klamath Falls, Oregon, USA. It was demolished long ago, but the site still contains the massive sawdust burner and one derelict building. The property is now used as the city's composting plant, using tree trimmings and other organic material.
In the late afternoon
Only remaining building of historic Modoc Lumber Co., it had housed machinery that pulled logs out of the lake into the mill. Two years ago it was heavily damaged by a fire.

Lake Ewauna, the beginning of Klamath River
This lake used to be lined with several lumber mills, even a box factory, beginning in the late 19th century. It was covered with floating logs ready to be loaded into the mills. They gradually shut down and the last one was closed about 15 years ago. It was torn down about not long after that.
It's a lovely section of town. There have been plans in the past to develop it as mixed-use residential and commercial property. Nothing much has happened - there's just not enough money in this community for a "Timbermill Shores."
Compost conveyor
Why oh why do I take pictures of these things? It just gets worse! : b
Conveyor belts at the composting yard
Yep, just another photo of machinery from Diane!
