Just a big field by Lake Euwana. There have been development plans for years, but nothing gets off the ground. The latest scheme was presented to the city by the state, which wants to build a veterans services center there. However, the city and the hospital had already planned a joint venture to build a veterans' medical clinic at the new & almost finished community health & social services campus. All services would be linked with the new detox center, addiction treatment and the hospital. Most people, including myself, think the city's original plan makes the most sense for the veterans, themselves. Some are homeless and have no transportation between different kinds of assistance. The city site includes homeless housing, too!
So, there's a political battle between the city, plus the hospital, and the state. I have no doubt the state will win, because it can. Efficiency and common sense be damned.
