Dad, mid 1960s

Early morning in a suit, so a good guess is that he's ready to leave for SFO (San Francisco Internat'l Airport). He's got that, "Let's get going" look. We would all drive him to the airport and wait at the gate until his plane was in the air, on his way to Norway, Peru, Greenland, or Djibouti. All of it was a very big occasion and we dressed up. He would be gone 2 months...5 months...8 months...home for a few weeks and gone again. I don't know how we stood it.

Diane Putnam club has replied to tiabunna clubIt sounds like life in the Services Diane...............I hated leaving my family and I expect your Dad did too, but I also loved my job and it paid the bills and put a roof over our heads. It also made the time we had together much more precious.
