Are people allowed to stand in them and use their mobiles (sorry, cellphones!)? Do they get better reception or something?
Despite the air of dilapidation, it's a very nice shot!

Yes, of course, and no charge! They need the extra protection from the screaming wind that blows through here sometimes. You can store your dog in there, too.

Thanks!

In the early 80's when my brother went to the USA for a longer time he used to call home regularly. At that time the far distant calls had been very expensive. And at that time the "collect call" (connection by an operator) was common. So we arranged a fixed time and at home we went to a telephone booth. When the operator called and asked if we accept the cost, we said yes and then talked with the brother as long as we wanted. Then we hang up ... and the costs had to be paid by the telephone company! ;-))
I don't think that it still works nowadays, because the public phone numbers are on a list now.
Yes, we were bad boys! ;-)

LOLOL!!!! That is very clever, poly, and yes you were bad boys! Now, there are almost no pay phones and almost everyone has unlimited long-distance service, so probably not a problem. Thank you for that hilarious story! ;-b

I wonder that some phonebooths still work at all! In Germany phone boxes had "Fasse Dich kurz" (keep it short) on them to keep people from talking too long while queues were building up outside;-)

Funny! I'm sure that isn't a problem now, and probably, like here, there are only a few left in the country. Vielen Dank, Gudrun.
