Lovely photo but a sad sight to see how much the glacier has retreated.

Yes, in the last fourteen years most Norwegian glaciers have retreated 100 - 200 meter. There are similar numbers from around the world. Something happened around the year 2000. It was then the large retreat began (there have several retreats and advancements in the last 100 years). The glaciers have received the the same amount of snow as before, but the summers are warmer now.

That's a lot! I'm afraid there will be many places without glaciers in the near future (Alps...). In Iceland it could get rather "interesting" - volcanic activity is predicted to increase considerably with glacier melt.

LOL, in Chile he'd have been in good company. The then Chilean president used to empty the mini bar in the hotel, refused to pay and accused the maid....

BTW, the figures I have seen lately shows that even if we manages to limit the global temperature increase to two degrees instead of four (it will be at leas four if we continue like today) we will still be in a lot of trouble.
