➽ This girl's back in town ♫ ♪ ♪ ♫ ♩ ♬ _____________________ ➽ Der Manzù-Brunnen (Mädchen im Bade) ist ein öffentlich zugänglicher Brunnen in der Innenstadt von Augsburg. Er besteht aus einem Brunnenbecken und einer Bronzefigur des italienischen Bildhauers Giacomo Manzù . Die rund 2,2 Meter hohe Skulptur stellt ein junges Mädchen dar, das gerade aus dem Bade steigt. Sie hat sich nur ein Tuch bzw. eine Tunika locker übergeworfen. Auf Wunsch des Künstlers steht die Figur in einem Becken mit fließendem Wasser. Der ursprüngliche Brunnen (siehe PiP 1) wurde 1985, zur 2000 Jahr-Feier Augsburgs, enthüllt. Mitte Juli 2011 wurde der Brunnen im Zuge des Königsplatz-Umbaus abgebaut und eingelagert. Die Pflasterfläche wurde im September 2014 wiederhergestellt. Der neue Brunnen (siehe PiP 2), nur noch eine fließende Wasserfläche eingerahmt von Edelstahlrinnen, und die Skulptur sind seit August 2015 wieder installiert. Quelle: Wikipedia Eigene Anmerkung: Der Brunnen ist der Jugend der Stadt gewidmet und war immer ein beliebter Treffpunkt der Jugendlichen (leider auch der Drogen- und Obdachlosenszene). ______________________ ➽ The Manzù Fountain (Girl in bath) is a public fountain in downtown Augsburg. It consists of a fountain basin and a bronze figure of the Italian sculptor Giacomo Manzù (engl.) . The 2.2 meter high sculpture depicts a young girl who rises straight out of the bath. She has only a cloth or a tunic thrown over. At the request of the artist, the figure stands in a basin with running water. The original fountain (see PiP 1) was revealed in 1985 on the occasion of the 2000 anniversary celebrations of Augsburg. In mid-July 2011 in the course of the Königsplatz (Royal Square) redevelopment the fountain was dismantled and stored. The paved area was restored in September 2014. The new fountain (see PiP 2), only a flowing water surface framed by stainless steel gutters and the sculpture are reinstalled since August 2015.
