An Icelandair Boeing 757-300 seen, I think not far from my home on one of our usual regular walks in the hills. This plane is quite old being being 19 years old when I took this in 2019. ***TF-ISX*** People who know me, will know that I have a love of aviation and so when I see something like this, with my camera, I often point up and shoot. Seen in a Normandy, France cottage garden. As the front tyre was flat ? I imagine this more of a garden showpiece than a practical ride to market. A very French ritual! Enjoy the day.

The date: April 5 2009, almost 25 years back to the day, at the edge of the Lancashire town of Clitheroe. A chance capture as I was taking photos of the mist and birds on the nearby River Ribble when I heard a rumble. I looked towards the cement works across the river and saw the chimney starting to topple. As the camera was in my hands and already in fast shoot mode (I was trying also to get some flying herons) I managed to catch this before it disappeared in a cloud of dust behind the buildings. It was made of concrete and 460 feet high (140m). A moment never to be relived here. BBC News: “One of the tallest industrial chimneys in Lancashire has been demolished. The chimney was part of the Hanson cement plant in Clitheroe and was connected to two kilns that were decommissioned two years ago. The fall of the chimney at the cement works, formerly called Castle Cement, was witnessed by onlookers as it dropped at 1000 BST on Sunday.” It was built in the 1960's out of reinforced concrete and was much hated by the local residents of Clitheroe because of smells and fumes (refuted). In this European Tree of the Year 2020 we can enjoy another look at this fine Silver Birch here in Chew Valley, Saddleworth. Seen in the seaside town of Seaford, Sussex. These are beach-huts lit up by the evening sun-set. Yes, talk about 'the Golden Hour'.

Apologise first of all as I accidently deleted this and all the great comments on it from my Ipernity pages earlier today. I would be very happy if anybody who had commented previously could re-instate their comments here again. The British sport of cricket is known is known as a gentleman’s game as it so slow and relaxing. Here we have a local village match, generally played only on Sundays. Now it is generally sought by photographers to grab a shot of either, a ball being caught by a fielder or the ball hitting the wickets to get a man out! The latter is normally very difficult to get as it last for only a fraction of a moment and the ball is rarely in the frame. One can also wait for hours for the moment. Now I must admit here that I am not a great cricket fan and have attended only a handful of matches in my lifetime. On this day I was using my Canon AE1 35mm camera and had just aimed it at the stumps of the batter when I saw the ball being bowled. I shot as many frames as I could having no idea what I really got. Here is the result with a very rare ball actually hitting the wicket and driving the stumps into the air – with the cries of “How-Zat” (OUT) all around me This from a 1976 slide. Enjoy full screen

Who says we have to have sunny clear blue skies for good landscapes. Here is one taken on my recent Scottish trip. A wonderful walk to and from the Drunbui Railway halt here and since it is Spring the yellow gorse is radiant too. We are actually at a place called Port Cam, south of Plockton which is north of Kyle of Lochalsh in North West Scotland and I am looking north over Loch Carron. Enjoy full screen

Between Fort William and Loch Ness there are two other Lochs: Loch Oich and Loch Lochy. This is the larger of the two, Loch Lochy with its most splendid reflections to the North West in this case. The two photo panorama was taken at the popular viewpoint stop at Letter Finlay. "Loch Lochy is a large freshwater loch in Lochaber, Highland, Scotland. It is 15km (9 miles) long with an average width of 1km and a mean depth of 70 m (230ft), it is the third-deepest loch of Scotland." WiKi Essential full screen.
