Autumn Golds
A retro look at the best of Autumn here at Dovestones Reservoir. This is Chew Brook, one of my old Panoramio uploads.

HFF- The Blackwater estuary
A view of this big river estuary near Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, taken in 2014. Whether we would really call this a fence is a matter of opinion but it sure looks like one to me. A dark almost sunless day but just enough light to produce a cloud-scape like this. I believe the fishing is good here.

The final reach
As this very old tree bids a farewell wave to the heavens we cannot but ponder what kind of life it has had and what it may have seen here. Taken not far from the waters edge at Clachtoll it certainly makes for a spectacular study.
Enjoy full screen on black.

In the bleak midwinter
Long, long ago, - as the carol goes, but this shows a nicer side of those cold days with this lovely warm sunset. Taken just 15 minutes from my home after several days of very cold freezing weather. A nice layer of new snow and light competes for attention with the tree and wall.

Freedom!
A nostalgic trip back to the Canadian Rockies here with the beautiful Emerald Lake set in the YoHo National Park. A very popular location for tourist and accommodation with food to hand too, but step away just a few metres and you have this: the smell of pine trees, the plop of a fish in the water and the soft splash of a canoe paddle. pip
Enjoy full size as we never know when freedom will be taken away!

A glance at Ennerdale Water
It’s our last day here in the West Lakes and so an overdue visit to our closest lake from our holiday cottage. Before we get to the lake, I climb the small local hill to get a distant glance. The weather looks interesting, to say the least, but the sheep don’t mind at all!

HFF ~ Bratislava –The Old bridge over the Danube.
Yes, it really is called the ‘Old Bridge (in its English translation). A good day exploring the old city and then I looked at this bridge over the river near our ship. There is in fact a pedestrian walkway along each side and as can be seen the whole central part is taken up by two sets of tram lines. I presume that only trams were allowed to cross here. A rather nifty piece of engineering to make this.
The PiP shows it from a little further away with the addition of the UFO tower which sits at the end of the concrete ‘UFO Bridge’ behind the Old Bridge. The UFO houses a restaurant.

Have a good weekend.
