"Its OK for you with that camera, you are not pulling this thing around all day" - they seem to be thinking as he looks at me. A great pair of horses, obviously well looked after and enjoying there job of pulling a wonderful carriage of tourist around these narrow streets.
Another one that works well in full screen.

Seen in the town of La Vila Joiosa, Spain. On a wall!
I'm not really a cat person but I must admit to them being rather photogenic at times!
Its tough being a sheep

|
Seen in the recent Winter snowstorms -just a mile or so from home. I'm always amazed how these sheep can be out in all weathers. The chances are that they are both pregnant too as lambing time is usually March/April.
Grinton Moor wildlife

A carpet of purple which for me is a real pleasure to roam though. Taken on the moor above the tiny Swaledale village of Grinton near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales. The sheep is actually a 'Swaledale' well know for their ruggedness and found throughout the mountains and moorland of Britain. No doubt on its way to join its close-by friends and relatives.

It is actually a view from just above the North West banks of our Lake Windermere near Wray Castle. The mountain crags are, I believe the Langdale Pikes. Now where are those cow-bells...

She thinks we cannot see her, surrounded by ferns and with her camouflage on but..........perhaps its simply her necklace!
Sheep roundup at Clifden Castle

We see here the back of this ruined castle which is in reality an old ruined Manor House.
See Pip for classic view.
Bellowing red deer at Rutting time.

Red Deer Rut at Tatton Park, Cheshire
The sound of a red deer stag bellowing is both unmistakeable and unforgettable. At this time of year stags are battling to show their dominance to gather together a harem of females.
As always, beautiful at full screen. See pip
Lone tree, fence and a horse
|
|
|
|
The recent cold spell and snowfall provided me with another chance to get a winter fence. Here, just an hours walk from my home is a tree and seemingly the same horse that I have been photographing for years. This time this HFF group has pulled me closer to the fence.
I wish you all, a great weekend, Herb
Can I walk through your field please?

A look towards the majestic flat top of Thorpe Cloud (942ft) at the start of the Dovedale valley. A fine view maybe had from up there as witnessed by the tiny figures present seen from here. Its nearly Easter time and that means many of the local sheep have new lambs (see pips). Apparently not these, but there were many that had. On the other side of this field, behind the sheep is the visitors car-park and start of the walk. .... she did let us pass....
Treat yourself to full size..
See Pip for lambs and more sheep.
The Dartmoor ponies of Bolt Head
|
|
|
|
Continuing over this Devon SW coastal path we spy these ponies. It appears that they are wild Dartmoor ponies, allowed to graze here to keep the grass down. Dartmoor National Park is just 25 miles North of here. In the distance a signpost points our way further down the coast toward Salcombe.
A Devonian Highland cow.

For some reason, I am still pleasantly surprised when I see these splendid creatures outside Scotland. This girl was cooling her feet (as is quite usual for Highland cattle) in this small lake just off the coast at South Milton Sands here in Devon.

Vögel in Harmonie

Vögelein durchrauscht die Luft,
Sucht nach einem Aste;
Und das Herz ein Herz begehrts,
Wo es selig raste.
A little bird flies through the skies,
searching for a branch;
thus does one heart seek another,
where it might rest in bliss.

Actually you could not get to the lighthouse on these but....
Seen on the old harbour promenade. The lighthouse looked as if it would be a great walk but we did not have the time to do the few kilometers to get there.

A tree like no other

I must admit to having a love for trees, especially trees of character as this one is. Seen above Loweswater Lake and again showing a glimpse of the newly introduced Belted Galloway cows. What kind of tree is it? I will let you investigate :)
Nice full screen.
Its a dog's life

Fun at the seaside for these dogs enjoying themselves in the sea. We are at Runswick Bay on the north Yorkshire coast and all these dogs belonged to one couple. They often ran further into the deeper water. I know that Labradors love water and no doubt that feeling is infections to the other two dogs also.

A first glimpse of Loweswater
|
|
|
|
As we start this day out, we are greeted by these beautiful 'Belted Galloway' cows as we approach Loweswater in our English Lake District. Of course the weather is quite typical of this area and we have had to postpone this walk till later in the day as it was raining so hard earlier. We spoke to the framer, who owned these cows, and apparently they had only been introduced into this field moments before I took this, in fact the very small herd of around twelve cows had only just arrived from the county of Staffordshire the day before. They must be better suited to this area as the Scottish county of Galloway can be seen in the distance higher and behind me about 30 miles away across the Solway Firth.

Peep!
|
|
|
|
As little Bo Peep might have said to one of her lost sheep. A view down into Wastwater with rocks and scree underfoot but still we see trees such as this twisting Hawthorne clinging to the sides.
See adjacent photo for the view that this sheep had.
Enjoy full screen.
