Oh wow, kakvo divno cvijeće. Naši krokusi ne cvjetaju do proljeća. Ovo su tako divne vrste koje rastu u divljini na ovakvom polju.

Jenny, ova bilja se na engleskom jeziku zove autumn crocus, a u stvari to nije crocus. Latinski se zove Colchicum autumnale iz porodice Colchicaceae i cvijeta od oktobra do novembra. U proljeće naraste samo kratka stabljika sa nekoliko listova između kojih se razvija tobolac sa sjemenkama. Tada se može zamijeniti za medvjeđi luk - allium ursinum koji je ljekovit i ima veliku hranljivu vrijednost. Međutim, autumn crocus je otrovan zbog alkaloida kolhicim koji se još zove biljni arsen i koji se koristi u medicini.
Crocus je cvjetnica iz porodice croceae (irisa) i uzgaja se kao cvijeće koje se pojavljuje u jesen i zimu ili proljeće.
