Thank you I am pleased the way this came out. I have done not a thing but take photos for the last three weeks on the very same setting the result above as as good as you would expect. I am happy to take the next step I have worked out all the bugs.

Stunning pictures, Steve,. even with all your guide tackle,.. it still staggers me how you can focus and stay on the exact same spot over many separate exposures,.,. even a gnat flying by could shudder the lens at those distances.... it obviously works !... brilliant results.../ Dj.

DJ its all not left to chance that for sure :- Focus.. you have to get that right first up before you can even start step two on the list of the program, run Auto focus.



If you look at the middle Right panel there are three conditions built into focus it has to be done every hour or when I program interval to be, Any change in temp beyond 3c up or down and the last is a percentage error in the HFR which is set a 5% so keeping it tight. The most tried and tested method is Half-Flux-Radius (HFR), which is a measure of the width in pixels counting from the center of the star until the accumulated intensity is half of the total flux of the star.

Mount run on toothed belts rather than the old clock gears and spindles, made it run far more accurately why I purchased this mount this has been now for some 31/2 years. Guiding as you already know about.

Nothing is left up to chance and I do try to shoot wind free nights if possible all shots are checked in the morning any thing not good enough are deleted. Every step is done for the effect of getting the best possible photo.

Many thanks Herb a good old fashioned photo shoot that only make for a better shot all be it all controlled by computer rather than the bottom mount where it was almost all controlled by me. Has the shots got measurably better consider my first ever shot.



Compared to the better controlled by computer but both nikon lens.



I have enjoy this when I think back at all the frustrations as each time I am forced to learn. Now I am giving back someone's time to teach me now I am doing the very same and it all cements in my mind all the parts I learnt the hard way.

This was always the way I wanted to take deep space a quality Photo.

I will admit its not been easy as a non computer person but its been a great result from the very start which pushed me on. Not for everyone but a very worthwhile way to take photos and you don't even need to leave home. Many thanks glad you enjoy it as well.
