Success!

My very first loaf of bread I have ever baked. It is called 'Sunday Bread', because it is yeast dough with butter. I found the recipe in a German Internet site. We already tasted it and agreed that it is great and I will bake it again.

Pork Filet

Today's dinner. I watched a video the other day of northern German farms. Three farms were shown, describing how people live, work and all about the families. In one farm kitchen I watched Grandma make this dinner for Easter for the entire family of eight. It looked so delicious that I had to try to make it for us. You have to take my word for it, it was delicious. I served stewed tomatoes and mango with cherry sauce as side dishes.

A "bad weather day" activity on Oct. 1st.

It has now rained for two days and more to come. Indoors it is warm from baking bread.

Locally grown 'Empire' apples

A very old local variety now gone from most orchards. I have known and enjoyed these apples for over 50 years. Only one orchard, one mile from where we live, still grows this variety.

My first try

I have never baked anything with yeast. These are from a German recipe I found on the Internet. The rolls are crusty and solid, different and much better than supermarket rolls.
