Friends in 1950.
Three children had made friends during a time when West-Germany had to absorb 13 Mill. refugee from eastern Europe. Each farmer was forced by the new government to take in a refugee family. One room had to cleared for one family, no matter how many children, parents and grandparents made up a family. My father, stepmother and I were given a room in this farmhouse. My father had just escaped an American prison camp. The village children were forbidden to play with us. Hostility was present in any situation where refugees needed help. Is it any different now here in America?
