St. Michaelis Kirche, Hamburg, Germany.
Do you remember where you were on November 22, 1963? I was here in my hometown Hamburg. It was my boyfriend's birthday and I had cooked dinner for us. I still lived at home in our large family flat. My mother and stepfather were working, they owned a small pub. When we started eating dinner, the TV program was interrupted with the announcement that President Kennedy had been shot.

Ronald Losure, Berny, Pics-UM, Makrofan and 2 other people have particularly liked this photo

Thank you very much, Lutz. I could not think of a better photo to bring out the sad date I still remember as if it had happened yesterday.
In 2011 I took photos of all churches in Hamburg and the Michel was a willing model for many.

Das stimmt. Dieser Tag war in meinem Gehirn so steckengeblieben. Meine Landsleute haben mit Amerika getrauert damals. Er war bei uns sehr beliebt.

I was in third grade of elementary school. As I recall, we listened to the news on radio in our classroom. When I walked home after school, my mother had not yet heard the news. A few days later, we watched the funeral procession in our classroom.

Thank you for responding to this with your own account.
That is actually a cruel thing to expose third graders to such shocking news.
